If you have reached this page it means that you are a lover of the extreme and that you are still looking for strong emotions. How is the visit to the peak of Teide? Let’s see it!
Our excursion will take you to the top of the third highest volcano in the world.
We are talking about Teide!
Revered by the Guanches, used by sailors as a point of reference in the Atlantic Ocean and described by Pliny the “Elder” at the time of the Roman Empire with the name of “Nivaria”, a huge mountain always covered with snow. Studied by geologists and volcanologists from all over the world, Mount Teide is considered by all to be the quintessential symbol of the Canary Islands.
In this experience we will take you to discover its crater and you will touch the highest point (indicated by the National Geographic Institute of Spain).
Once at the foot of the volcano and with the appropriate equipment (jacket, cap, sunglasses, sun cream) we will take the cable car, which will take us to 3,550 metres above sea level in a few minutes. Leaving the cable car we will head towards the meeting point, where we will be thrilled by the impressive view of Las Cañadas del Teide.
The rarefied air from this moment will dominate our excursion, allowing us to walk with difficulty. Entering through trail number 10 we will begin our ascent towards the crater.
The path unfolds at the beginning, inside the last lava flow, and then continues with an infinity of steps to the interior of the crater, which has a diameter of about 80 meters.
At various points we can also observe the steam that comes out of the cracks, which on the coldest days will also serve to warm our hands. Obviously, the stops will be several due to the slope and the thin air.
Finally, and after about an hour of climbing, our effort will be rewarded with a unique view. The emotion will be enormous when we meet next to the highest point of the Atlantic Ocean.
In a few hours we managed to go from sea level to 3,715 meters. From this point we will not only be able to see all the points of the island, but also observe the islands of Gran Canaria, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro.
On days with excellent visibility we will also have the opportunity to visit more distant islands, such as Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
You will not forget this visit to the peak of Teide.
