One of the star active leisure activities on the islands: canyoning in Gran Canaria. Canyoning is little known, but it is one of the best options to get to know the particularities of this island.
This sport combines different exercises such as jumping, walking, swimming and abseiling.
A perfect experience for those who love exercise and nature at its best.
The trip takes approximately 2 hours, but to this time must be added the travel time from the starting point to the beginning of the canyon. Therefore, the total time of the activity could be 3 to 4 hours. If you are a beginner you need:
- Sports shoes and clothing and an extra change.
- Swimming costume and towel.
- Helmet and personal protection.
- Canyoning harness.
- Neoprene, gloves and booties.
- Canyoning backpack, with watertight bottle.
- Sun cream.
- Rappel rope.
- Water and food for the whole day (nuts, canned food, almonds, energy bars).
- If you wear glasses, tie them with a small string in case you can’t avoid them.
For safety reasons it is important to be equipped with a wetsuit, helmet and personal protection. Always follow your guide and don’t get separated from the group – don’t forget them!
Depending on the canyon chosen, we will have forests with waterfalls, or hilarious canyons with jumps of different heights and natural slides. Or sections with little water flow. Remember to respect the environment and not to litter.
