Barranco Los Cernicalos in Gran Canaria, one of the most treasured places on the island.
Its magnificent waterfalls, with water flowing non-stop throughout the year, are a wonderful attraction of this canyon. This is why hiking enthusiasts and tourists who love magical places come here.
The whole adventure lasts 6 hours. We usually start at 10am to make the most of the daylight. The routes last approximately 4 hours, from 11am to 3pm. The transfer takes approximately one hour one way (10h to 11h), and one hour one way (15h to 16h).
It is recommended that the following be carried on the journey:
- 2 litres of water (at least).
- Nuts or seeds (foods with a lot of vitamins and that are not so heavy).
- Canned foods and/or energy bars.
During the walk we will make different stops. The first one for 10 to 15 minutes to recharge energy, drink water, eat some food and enjoy the scenery, to continue. The second stop is 30 to 40 minutes to have a good meal and reach the end of the route.
To get close to the waterfalls in Barranco Los Cernícalos it is advisable to bring a mackintosh, because you might get a bit wet. We know that the weather in Gran Canaria is excellent, but we have to take into account the place we are visiting.
You should also wear comfortable clothes that allow you to stay cool. Preferably shoes made for long walks to avoid slipping (take this into account if you are going to buy them). And sunscreen or a hat to protect you from the sun (if necessary).
